Suzanne Alice Dorsey passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Billings Clinic. She was 65. Finally at rest after struggling with various health issues, Suzanne joins her father, Harry Taylor Dorsey; her mother, Alice Jane Seaton Dorsey; and her beloved dogs, Peachy and Danny Boy. Suzanne was born in a raging snowstorm on Jan. 3 in 1947, in LaCrosse, Wis. She moved to Billings in 1954 with her parents and little sister Patricia, and began attending Rimrock Elementary School. She continued on to Lincoln Junior High and in 1965, graduated from Billings Senior High School. Always sharp and quick-witted, Suzanne continued her pursuit of education, enrolling at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where she graduated with honors with an associate of science degree in 1967. She transferred to Brigham Young University, studied history and graduated with her bachelor's degree in 1969. With her history degree in hand, Suzanne began the teaching career that would carry her through the rest of her life. She student taught in Utah and then hired on to a junior high in Marsing, Idaho. Throughout her life, Suzanne cultivated a deep faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Suzanne had a passion for genealogy and mapping out her family history. In the early 1970s, she elected to serve a mission for her church and was called to preach the gospel in Okinawa, Japan, for a year and a half. Following her mission, Suzanne returned to Billings, where she began work on a master's degree in psychology at Eastern Montana College and substitute taught for Billings School District 2. Upon earning her master's, she worked with American Indian students in Ashland and Frazer and finally took a school psychologist job in Scobey. She loved her job and was known as one of the best school psychologists around. She worked for a group of small school districts in the area, traveling the long, lonesome Eastern Montana highways as she visited various schools and students' homes. She retired in 2001 and began splitting her time between Scobey and Billings, where her father still lived. Her health eventually forced her to move back to Billings full time, where she stayed with her father until his death in 2007. Suzanne's constant companion through it all was her father's dog, Danny Boy, who helped keep Suzanne company as her health began to deteriorate.
