In Memory

Barbara LaBar (Howard)

Barbara LaBar (Howard)

Thanks to Cindy Kozitsky Owen for spending several hours at the Billings library locating Barbara's obituary.
Barbara became my close friend during our church confirmation classes in 9th grade so I've also posted a picture of that group, many BHS classmates.

Fun memories driving around in her yellow Ford convertible, going to her parents cabin in Red Lodge & ski trips, listening to records in her room esp. Dancing in the Street (Martha & the Vandellas).....
After graduation she attended U of M until moving to Bozeman after marrying Craig.
Sweet, serious, silly,  smart, sometimes snippy but with a sly smile, great sense of humor, devoted friend...still missed. - LeAnn (Ness) Abrahamson

There are 4 other classmates in this picture who are no longer with us as well:
Carolyn Gerdes (Biggs)
Bruce Waggener
Doreen Rendo (Harper)
Mary Anne Hager

Many thanks to Cindy and LeAnn for posting this obit.  Barbara was so wonderfully unique - so smart and fun - and a good friend.  I last saw her in Bozeman and then sadly she left us too soon.

We called her "little squatty body". I too remember the yellow ford, trips to The Frost Top and she loved Casa De's Pizza. I think of her every December, she passed 6 days before my Daughter Amy was born and I still miss her today. Thank you Cindy for your efforts.

I remember Barbara so well.  She had such a good sense of humor and I can still see her laughiing.  Her mother was our girl scout leader for a while.  I have been looking all over for this same picture of our confirmation class at American Lutheran Church because I wanted to post it.  Thank you, LeAnn for doing this.  Also, thanks to Cindy for finding the information on Barbara.

We lost you when we were all so young! I remember listening to Stan Getz on the floor of your bedroom. You introduced me to jazz. And, to mayonnaise and fries at the frost top! The Beatles were another favorite. Miss you dearly, Barb!

During the last three months of her life, I shared an office with Barb's husband, Craig. His devotion to her was inspiring and touching.  If Barb had a good day, Craig had a good day.  There were both so young to be in such a heart-rending situation.

This is all so very touching-the picture, the stories, the memories. What a loss!! I remember when we were at Lincoln and Barbara referred to her self as Brabra LaBra. xxoo

Barbara died on November 28th and was buried on Dec. 7th.  My husband was one of the pallbearers.  The last six months I talked to her almost everyday she put up a great fight but her body could not take anymore.  Think about her all the time.
