In Memory

Roger Burkhardt

Our loving husband, father and grandpa Roger C. Burkhardt was taken home to heaven by God’s precious angels, August 6, 2022.

Roger was born in Billings on April 30, 1946 to the proud parents Annette and Rhinholdt Burkhardt. As the only son and the youngest, he was both spoiled and picked on by his older sisters Carol and Sally.

He spent his youth having adventures with friends on Billings’ South Side. Roger loved to tell about his car in high school that he rigged with a hidden beer compartment. He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1965 and enlisted in the Army, proudly serving in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief and gunner.

After returning to Billings he met his soulmate, Jackie, with whom he spent 52 years of marriage. He was a loving and caring father to their three sons. He provided for his family and worked at a lumber yard for 39.5 years. After retirement, he and Jackie moved to Martinsdale where he managed to not be swept away by the wind for the last 9 years.

Roger told endless stories of the outdoors with great humor. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and especially loved the mountains. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling and boating.

Roger had so many treasured relationships with family and friends and dearly loved each one.
He is preceded in death by his two sons, Joe and Steve, his parents, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Jackie, his son Chris (Amity), six grandchildren (Zak, Brittany, Breannda, Amos, Casidy and Steven), 11 great grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Yesterday Bob Deroeck, Linda Baker and I attended the Memorial Service for Roger Burkhart. We were his only classmates to attend. Roger was such a good fun loving person to be around. He loved his family, friends and The Lord very much. I had not seen his wife for 55 years, but she still knew me. I got to met his Son Chris and found out what a wonderfull person he was. I was taken back to the wonderfull years of our youth. I will think of him for a long time. I am sure Lonny Fair would have loved to be here. Rest in peace, Roger. Cancer is such a terrible enemy.

Roger, myself and Bobby DeRoeck attended the memorial service for Roger Burkhardt yesterday. It was a very nice service and his family were all warm and friendly and happy that Roger's old classmates that spent time and got to know Roger in his youthful"adventures" and after high school, were there with them. RIP Roger. You will be missed. Hate cancer!
